A Sri Lankan soldier was found with crystal methamphetamine after having been arrested on for his alleged connection to criminal gangs.
The 37-year-old Lance Corporal Kankanamge Rasanga Lalindu Kumara, was arrested on the 21st of January and has been further remanded till the 28th of January for further questioning by the Kasbewa Magistrate.
According to the Commander of the Police Special Task Force (STF) Waruna Jayasundara, the investigations were carried out through the use of several teams to find the suspect behind the murder of Vijith Mahendra AKA Ranmalli and the attempted murder of a fish vendor.
Rasanga Lalindu Kumara was arrested in suspicion of being involved in these two incidents which allegedly have a direct connection to criminal gangs.
Upon arrest he was found to have on his possession 18g and 470mg of ‘ice’.
